Search engine giant Google recently announced at Google I/O on Wednesday that they are testing a brand new Speed Report within Google Search Console which is powered off of CrUX data. The ultimate objective of this report offers a combined view field metrics of the site. In addition to that, it also enables you to drill down into specific issues and present specific examples of those issues.
Although the report was launched recently, it was discovered couples of months earlier. As of now the report is still not live, but presently it is available in beta right now. So, anyone who uses Google Search Console can have access to the report.
It was back in February when Google was in the news for coming up with latest features those were possibly coming to the Search Console. And the speed report was among the new features that were discovered back then. Google has not only confirmed the speed report, but it has also shown off the screenshots related to the report both on desktop as well as on mobile.
Have a look at the sneak peek of the brand new Google Search Console speed dashboard (beta) coming.
As you can see the screenshot of the report shared by Ilya Grigorik showing the slow, average, and fast pages one can click to fetch further details.
As stated that the report is not live yet and users can sign up for the beta version to see the form – there is a separate form, and after filling it up, one can have the access.
The ones who were present in the attendance are well aware of the facts that were discussed about the report, but still, there’s a lot that one can gather from the available screenshots.
Just like previously launched Index Coverage Report, users can load up their respective Speed Report to get a prompt impression for the inclusive presentation of the page. The report will clearly indicate the number of pages that are fast, average, and are the ones running slow. It would be better if you could also drill down deeper to get a complete list of pages in each group.
In addition, you would also be able to scrutinize the specific issues that you have encountered with the help of a particular URL. This is indeed one of the most useful additions to the Search Console that offers a holistic view of the overall speed of the website.
Earlier, the owner of the websites used to run a handful of URLs through the testing tool for the page speed to have an idea on how smooth and fast the site is working. But now there is a separate report available through which one can easily track the speed of each and every page on a given site, and it also enables them to see how it changes with time.
The report for sure could be an excellent tool for learning purpose regarding what could help and on the contrary harm the speed of the site. In case there is a sudden incline or strike on any given day, users can make a lesson on the factors that lead to the changes take place.
